Guild Charitable Interest Project - Backpacks for CAPA
And Afternoon “Sit and Sew” on Your Projects
Join us for friendship and fun as we work on a guild charitable interest project. We will be making backpacks for CAPA. Learn more about CAPA here: www.https://capabeaufort.org. We will have a Sit and Sew in the afternoon following the August monthly meeting, where you can work on your own projects.
There will be jobs for everyone. Those staying for the "Sit & Sew" will have their machines, so they will be the stitchers of the bags. We will also need fabric cutters, pressers and people to feed the cords through the finished bags.
We will have some tools available (irons, cutting mats, etc) but we would really appreciate it if you could come with the tools you need to do one of the above jobs whether that be a fabric cutter (cutting mat, ruler, rotary cutter) or a presser (Iron, ruler, pressing surface). Many hands make light work. If we all work together, we should be able to bang out quite a few of the easy-to-sew drawstring book bags for kids in need. Kits will be provided. Each backpack takes about an hour to make.
Bring your lunch and a personal project and stay for an afternoon “Sit & Sew” with fellow guild members. Who knows, there might be a few surprises!
