In September, join us for a Zoom presentation by Leila Gardunia, a pattern designer from Missouri, who thinks there is nothing better than drafting quilts and playing with fabric. Her presentation will be a mash-up of two lectures; Got Scraps? and Traditional Blocks, Modern Quilts. She will help us have fun, be creative and find joy while creating our own beautiful quilts. She is obsessed with using scraps and many of her patterns are foundation paper-pieced scrap busters. So, get ready to clean out those scrap bins.
The survey of our membership in the spring indicated an interest in using up scraps and modern quilts so this is sure to be of interest to many of us.

She will show us how to break out of the “matching” mindset and start combining fabrics from different designers, collections, and eras with ease. We’ll learn how to mix color, scale, and motif in a way that feels intentional, personal, and a little bit daring. We’ll turn fabric chaos into quilt magic—together.

Saturday, June 6 - Lil Helming - “Pixelated, Not Pixillated” Quilt Trunk Show
Today our own Lil Helming will be our presenter. Lil majored in fibre arts in college studying weaving and fabric design, and interned at what was then known as the American Craft Museum in New York City. Post college, she pursued her love of fiber primarily through knitting and taught students of all ages for nearly four decades. About twelve years ago she made her first quilts, and was smitten with the craft. As a knitwear designer, relying on the pixelated methods to design colorwork, it was a natural transition to apply that method to quilting. Lil will take us through the design process, and inspire you to create your own pixelated designs during this “hands on” program.
