Program January 4, 2025 - MRQ’s 10 Year Celebration

We will celebrate 10 years of MRQ with our guild’s focuses: education, community involvement and friendship. No Program. No Business. No Show ‘n Tell.

All 70 tickets have been sold. PLEASE RMEMBER—YOU MUST HAVE A TICKET FOR JANUARY’S MEETING! The party is a day of fun, learning, friendliness and community service. And prizes! There will be plenty of prizes including free dues for two people, gift certificates and other fun gifts. Please start buying beef stew, canned chicken and tuna, pasta, rice and cereal. Please being only unexpired and non-perishable items! You will receive a raffle ticket for each item you bring to win one of those prizes. Please bring your donations to the meetings and see Suzanne McClure. Also included in the “prize bin” will be free dues for the year and gift certificates.

We appreciate all of you who have donated handmade items to be used for prizes. You were VERY generous!

There will be no birthday bundles in January due to the Celebration. January birthdays, please bring your birthday bundles to the November or February meeting.

  • January 10th, Feb 21, March 7, and April 4 Rapid Fire Hunters Star Free Workshop!  - Debi Bacon will teach the Deb Tucker Rapid Fire Hunter’s Star for a 4-month period.  You will meet from 10:30-3:00 at the Haven at New Riverside where she will teach the workshop.  After that, on February 21, March 7 and April 4th, 10:30-3:00, you can continue to work on your quilt in a “sit and sew” environment.  Debi will be there to help you if help is needed and you should be able to finish your quilt in that period.  Anyone who has previously taken the class and has a Hunter’s Star UFO is also welcome for all 4 sessions.  Please email Debi at kansaswx@verizon.net if you are interested in joining the fun or have any questions.

  • Saturday, February 8, 2025 - Program Bag Making Tips with Krystal Woehlke Our very own member, Krystal, will teach us the ins and outs of making bags.

    Saturday, February 8, 2025 (NOTE: Date Change) 12:30—5:30pm, immediately following the guild meeting

    Workshop: Mondo Bag with Krystal Woehlke - Please plan now to register for this workshop since we need to get patterns ordered for

    everyone and there will be some homework! Our very own member, Krystal, will teach us the ins and outs of creating a Mondo Bag. Participants will have a choice of medium or large bag and there will be home work so most will have a finished bag when they leave the class.

    Cost: $30 plus pattern

    Detailed homework will be emailed directly to all participants. Registration forms are attached to this newsletter and will be available at the December meeting.

  • Saturday, April 5, 2025 Program: Since bindings can be a love/hate relationship. Come learn new tips, tricks and ways to finish our quilts.

  • Saturday, April 5, 2025 - Workshop: Crazy Quilting Fun with June Jones (12:30—5:30), immediately following the meeting. In this workshop you will learn to make a basic crazy quilt block. This can be made into a framed work or a cushion, or the first of many that you can make into a wall hanging. You may bring scraps that you would like to incorporate and bits of lace or buttons for embellishment. I will provide the muslin base and all kinds of velvets, sating and tie silks. No backing is used in crazy quilts, just a foundation and back to finish as you want. Cost: $30

  • Saturday, May 3, 2025 Program: Challenge Quilt Presentation

  • Sunday, May 4, 2025 TBA Workshop: Diana Mann and Studio 180 Tools

This pattern uses the Lemoyne Star and Square Squared tools. The Tucker Trimmer is also highly suggested. Students will learn how make Lemoyne Star blocks and snail trail blocks as well as how to put the final quilt together.
